Over the course of two days, the Irpin community held ceremonies to plant memorial “Trees of Memory” to honor the defenders and civilians whose lives were taken by the war. The project became a reality thanks to Irpin.memory (Memorialization in the Irpin Community) and a dedicated team of active residents who are fulfilling this vital mission from concept to action.

Each tree represents a unique story, a unique life…

The families and loved ones of the fallen defenders and civilian residents of Irpin came to plant these memorial trees. Each tree was marked with a personalized name tag in honor of the deceased, and their stories can be read on the “Book of Memory” online platform.

Thanks to the Arbor Day Foundation, we were also able to join this memorial-ecological project and provided 70 trees for planting: linden, rowan, maple, and plum trees. The trees were planted in four locations across Irpin:

  • Pokrovskyi Park

  • Writer’s Park (Park Pysmennykiv)

  • Victory Park (Park Peremohy)

  • Sydoruk Square

We would like to thank the Urban Improvement Administration for their assistance, support of the initiative, and presence during the planting, as well as for their ongoing supervision and care of the saplings.

Our incredible gratitude goes to the Department of Culture, Nationalities, and Religions for the organization and the core idea of the project, which we are deeply honored to be a part of.

May these trees grow as a space of memory for future generations.
