We have good news for you: Arbor Day Foundation in Ukraine

Thanks to our cooperation with this global network, one of the Ukrainian communities will become more resilient to the effects of climate change, greener, and improve its environmental sustainability.

Arbor Day Foundation is a global nonprofit organization that inspires people to plant, care for, and respect trees. The network has planted more than half a billion trees around the world, especially in areas where they can have the greatest impact on climate, communities, and biodiversity. 

For 50+ years, the Arbor Day Foundation has been planting and nurturing trees in 60+ countries and has 5.4K partners working at the local level, including Ukraine!

The team of Green Wave is incredibly pleased to be able to implement the project in one of the Ukrainian communities, as the war has a negative impact on nature and people in Ukraine, causing significant environmental damage, including to trees.

Here is what we are going to do:

• develop guidelines for growing local tree species from seeds for the entire territory of Ukraine (how to choose local tree species depending on different environmental conditions; how to collect seeds; how to grow seedlings from seeds; why you should not plant invasive tree species; how to create sustainable plantations, etc.
• to organize a tree planting campaign in public places in one of the communities of the Kyiv region with the involvement of schoolchildren, educators, local activists, etc., and to create a long-term initiative to grow local tree species from seeds among schoolchildren.
• as well as several other related activities that will help to realize the project goal.
