An engaging and eco-friendly event took place at the Irpin Humanitarian Lyceum “Linguist” named after Zarifa Alieva. Students from the 1st and 11th grades joined a tree-planting initiative where they learned about seedling care and the benefits of green spaces for the city, successfully planting 36 saplings themselves.
Thanks to the Arbor Day Foundation, we organized this initiative across several educational institutions in Irpin. Our goal is to engage young people in eco-activism and foster a gentle, mindful attitude toward nature and trees.
On the eve of the planting, members of our organization spoke to the children about the benefits of trees and shared how to properly plant and care for them. As a practical experiment, we gifted the students hand-collected seeds to plant and nurture together with their families in the future.
The students paired up (first-graders alongside eleventh-graders) and headed to the square, where they planted linden, rowan, and plum trees with the professional support of the Urban Improvement Administration. These trees will remain under the careful supervision of the city’s maintenance team and the heartfelt support of our students.
After their wonderful and inspiring work, the children were treated to healthy snacks and shared their new impressions!
More plantings are planned at two other educational institutions in Irpin throughout October, so stay tuned for our updates!
The project is funded by the Arbor Day Foundation.
